I really don’t believe in magic. -J.K. Rowling

“Miranda” spent the last two weeks with me Joumorizing her life. She dealt in great detail with her finances, finishing her grandmother’s will, initiating a divorce, supporting her children going off to college, as well taking on a new position in her career. The other night at 11pm she received an invitation that was her greatest desire (which she had written down the day before). By 9am the next day she was on a flight to California. Miranda had followed these Joumor principles:

Preparation is everything and everything is preparation.

Do what you CAN do.

Set yourself up to win…so you are FREE to RECEIVE.

J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series and 3 books for adults, is a classic rags to riches success story. A single divorced parent on welfare suffering from depression became the UK’s best selling author (1) one of the wealthiest women in the world, and founder of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Clinic to address neurodegenerative disorders in honor of her mother. She has won multiple awards, broken records for book and movie sales, and been listed as both powerful and important on many “Most _______” lists. Some would say this is magical, or at least amazing. But if you look closely, it’s not magic at all:

In a difficult situation, J.K. Rowling:

1. Wrote books that both used her imagination and addressed in part what she was dealing with- the death of her mother, living in poverty, depression.

2. Completed her manuscript- (it wasn’t just an idea).

3. Asked for help- readers and feedback- and got it.

4. Got an agent…

…and the rest is not average!

What’s average is to have amazing ideas and do nothing.

What’s average is to focus more on your tale of woe than what you want life to be.

What’s average is to settle for average.

Whatever your situation is, what can you do to move one step farther from clutter and one step closer to your dreams by Friday at 5pm? Remember:

Preparation is everything and everything is preparation.

Do what you CAN do.

Set yourself up to win…so you are FREE to RECEIVE.

Because that’s where the magic is, baby.
