Many people believe that going after a goal is like a Rottweiler going after a bone- you grab on and don’t let go until you’ve gotten the prize. Joumor takes a different view- the work is in setting ourselves up to win by setting ourselves up to receive.

But what about “No Pain, No Gain”?

The idea that you have to push beyond your comfort zone in order to achieve your goal can be a valid one, but it can also be dangerous.

Warning: birth analogy- skip this if body things gross you out!

The staff at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent initiated a project to stop telling women to push. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Royal College of Midwives put out a call for action after seeing a sharp rise in severe perineal tearing affecting nearly 14,000 women in 2013 to 2014. Over a 12-month period after the program was implemented, the incidence of women with severe tearing went down from 7% to 1%. How have they gotten such amazing results? Largely, simply by not asking women to push when they are in labor.*

Have you ever heard of a woman pushing for hours to give birth and nothing happened? Sometimes we (the mother or the baby or both, in this analogy) are just not ready, and pushing either just doesn’t work, or it can literally do harm…or both. The key is to have a clear idea of the goal, and to take care of everything related to achieving that goal- to feel clear, confident, and clutter-free that we are ready to receive it.

Some view it as self-sabotage when their goals almost arrive and disappear, or they start and stop a goal…in Joumor this simply indicates a Hole in the Infrastructure. It means we’re not fully prepared. Of course it’s never a guarantee that full preparation means we’ll receive our desire, but there’s a great chance that the opposite is true-

If we are Less Prepared we will be less

And there’s a good chance we might even hurt ourselves pushing too hard.

Have faith (trust me, this is hard as he** for me, too): you know what you want, and you deserve it. It’s just a matter of doing all you CAN do, and receiving it.

It’s yours, stop pushing.
